Fashion brand BEAMS released a new video taking us back to the past 40 years of Tokyo Fashion and Music.
BEAMS took us to a trip around Tokyo showing the evolution of fashion and music from 1976-2016. In 1976, city pop was the music enjoyed by many which includes songs by Yohitaka Minami. In terms of fashion, college varsity getups were popular as well as sunvisors. In 1984, punks, walkmans and college jackets would describe the year's pop culture. In 1988, hip hop style was starting to emerge. People were wearing track suits and adidas sneakers. It was in 1991 when bodycon or body conscious dresses became popular. In 1995, fatigue shirts and baby g shocks were totally in. Year 2000 came about and men and women started to wear more casual and relaxed clothes. In 2010, Jpop bands became famous. And in 2016, the unbalanced style were loved by many in Japan, wearing oversized jackets and sweaters.
