Eijiro Miyama is often referred to as Bōshi Ojisan (“Hat Man”), because he is fond of riding his bicycle around the streets of Yokohama, while wearing his unique clothing and large, elaborate hats designed with dolls and recycled materials. Eijiro Miyama was born in Mie Prefecture, Japan, and had never really married. He had a lot of jobs before from all sorts of industries, such as a construction worker and even a driver.
On the age of fifty-five, he stayed in a boarding house for impoversihed working men of Yokohama. Located in Kotobuki district, the place is designated for the unemployed, socially-excluded and those without homes.
Nowadays, he found happiness in going around Yokohama with his bike and his fancy costumes.
