Dan Liu is Chinese Japanese fashion designer who is based in Canada. He is the founder and creative director of the fashion label, TATSUAKI. Dan Liu was born and raised in Hong Kong but he moved out at the age of 16 to immigrate to Canada. In 1995, Liu found his passion for fashion as he choreographed fashion shows for a major fashion group in Canada. He then went to Tokyo, Japan to study fashion design and marketing at the Aoyama Fashion College.
He founded TATSUAKI fashion in 2002, and it caters to women who desire "Funky Couture". He draws inspiration from his Japanese and Chinese heritage. Most of his designs put an emphasis on beauty and practicality, adding a romantic flair to his designs to make the female form the center of attraction. His works have been featured at the New York Fashion Week.
