Want to see a real Japanese archer in a horseback like you see in movies? Yearly, Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine holds its Reitaisai. The main attraction of this festivity is the Yabusame, a contest popular among samurai warriors, which shows equestrian and archery skills of participants in one run. This three-day festival consists of several activities, which includes tea-offering ceremony of unmarried women to gods, classical Japanese dance, and parade of portable shrines (mikoshi).
