Literally, this is a festival for the "mythical founding of the nation." People of Takachiko from the Miyazaki Prefecture conduct a competition to select the "goddess" of that year's festival. There is also a beard competition wherein they choose the god of the year. The lucky winners will get the chance to lead a procession of hundreds of people wearing Japanese gods' costumes.
