Sapporo Snow Festival (Sapporo Yuki Matsuri), the largest and most awaited winter festival in Japan, exhibits huge and small snow sculptures and glass-like ice carvings every February in Hokkaido prefecture's capital, Sapporo City. The renowned snow festival opens in three sites: at Susukino, Tsu Dome, and mainly in Odori Park. At the Odori site, giant snow carvings with different themes are staged. Being located in Sapporo's the central entertainment district, appearing in the Susukino site are hundreds of lit ice carvings. While in Tsu Dome site, it is more family-oriented. Children can enjoy snow rafting, snow slides, labyrinths, and more snow sculptures. Annually, Sapporo Snow festival attracts over two million spectators around the globe.
