Nakizumo Crying Baby Festival

This 400-year old festival is a competition among hundreds of babies to see who can cry the loudest first. The babies are handed by their parents to two sumo wrestlers. Sumo wrestlers gently shake the babies and make noises to make the baby cry. It is believed that the infant who bawled first is the healthiest, and will be declared as the winner.
