Held in Nagasaki every October 7-9, the Nagasaki Kunchi is a festival of Suwa shrine, one of the major shrines of Shintoists. The festival is a celebration of the Dutch and Chinese culture, which are both influential to the city's history and foundation. The name Kunchi came from ku-nichi, which means "9th day," and the event being on the ninth day of the ninth month.
