Izu Oshima Tsubaki Matsuri (Camellia Festival)

This is another hanami (flower viewing) festival, but this time, it isn't about plum and cherry blossoms. Tsubaki is the Japanese for Camellia. This festival is held to celebrate the blooming of "rose of winter" camellia in Izu Oshima.The Camellia Plaza usually serves as the main venue, showcasing traditional folk dances and sales of local products made of camellia.
