The City of Fukuoka prides Hakata Dontaku festival as the most attended festival with over two million visitors amid Japan's Golden Week, when there is a series of national holidays from the end of April to early May. The locals dressed in unique costumes and flower hats parade in the streets while clapping shamoji spoons, a wooden utensil used to serve rice. Visitors from different city or country are also encouraged to join the dance. A parade of cars adorned with flowers also give accent to this citizens' festival.
