Golden Week Day 3: May 4 used to be considered a holiday in Japan because it's between two special days: Constitution Day and Children's Day. In 2006, it was declared as "Greenery Day," wherein people enjoy and appreciate the environment. Japan takes this as a day off to remember Emperor Hirohito's love of plants and nature. This day also falls on the season of rice-planting in Japan.
