Yakuoin Temple, perched at Mt. Takao's summit, opens its door yearly every early March to hold its fire-walking festival. People are gathered in this traditional event to pray for road and family's safety, and good health. Monks walk barefoot through embers. When the fire's almost out, visitors are then allowed to walk in the monks' trail. It's recommended for participants to bring wet towel or anything else that can clean your feet after that once-in-a-lifetime walk.
