Daimonji Festival

The Daimonji Gozan Okuribi is an event that illuminates the slopes on the mountains of Kyoto, namely Nyoigatake Peak, Matsugasaki Nishiyama, and Higayashima. During the ceremony, lights will be set in the shape of various Chinese characters, all of which are believed to be for the souls of our ancestors.
