The end of Summer means Brazil tradition strikes the Japanese community. Asakusa Samba carnival is both a festival and a contest. This is where gorgeous female dancers groove in colorful Brazilian costumes and lively music. Each team has a unique theme, which they must express through the design of the dancers’ costumes and the team’s float. The teams also compete for the content of their dances. The lead dancer is called "Rainha de Bateria" (Queen of the Drums) the one wearing a sash.
