Akita Matsuri

The Kanto Matsuri, or pole lantern festival, is held every first week of August. It boasts several performers that are sure to catch everyone’s attention. This event, along with the Nebuta and Sendai Festival, rank as the three main occasions of the Tohoku Region. One of the main goals of the Kanto Matsuri is pray for a more abundant harvest of rice, wheat, beans, and Chinese millet.
