The Yagen Valley is a remote mountain valley located in the middle of the Shimokita Peninsula in Honshu Region. It's a quiet, peaceful, isolated area away from the city, perfect for relaxing and having fun activities, such as hiking, camping, hot spring, etc.
Yagen Valley is famous for its two hotsprings, namely Meoto Kappa no Yu and Kappa no Yu, located in the Oku-Yagen area ("Inner Yagen Valley") facing the river with a pleasant view.
The Meoto Kappa no Yu is an open air and gender-seperated bath with a small restaurant, while Kappa no Yu has a roof and changes for women-only and men-oly every two hours. Hiking activity is also allowed in the valley through the forest.
There are no public transportation available; the most convenient way to travel unto the valley is by renting a car.
Meoto Kappa no Yu opens at 8:30 to 18:00 from April to October and 10:00 to 17:00 from November to March the following year.
It is closed on Tuesdays from November to March as well as during December 30 to January 3. Admission fee is 200 Yen.
Kappa no Yu opens at 7:00 to 17:00. Closed on November 9 to early April and Wednesday mornings for cleaning. Admission is free.
