Who says you can't reach the clouds? It's everyone's childhood dream, and now, it could be a reality! Dine above the sea of thick clouds while witnessing the sun rising in Hokkaido. The stunning view is just one gondola-ride away in Tomamu, up above 1,088 meters!
It is indeed the nearest cafe to heaven. A breakfast for two while viewing the sea of clouds is one of the most romantic thing you can do for your loved one.
Depending on the season, Unkai Terrace includes free yoga lessons and a guide to hiking Mount Tomamu.

It's a 40-48-minute walk or 10-15-minute drive to the north of Tomamu Station (Sekisho Line).
Travel Notes
From New Chitose Airport (the biggest airport in Sapporo) to Minami-chitose Station's "Airport Special Express", transfer to Super Ozora and alight to Tomamu Station. From there, take the free shuttle bus to Hoshino Resorts Tomamu.
Admission
You really have to wake up as early as 3 am to catch the clouds rolling in the sky. Ropeway gondolas run from around 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. It's recommended to stay in the Hoshino Resort Tomamu that completes the good vibe throughout the day.
Gondola Round Trip Fares: 1,900 yen (adults) and 1,200 yen (children). The terrace is not open all year long, visiting period starts from Mid May to October.
Don't forget to check the weather before going, so you can get the best out of your trip. Some days are foggy, and sometimes clouds are thin and shy.
