If you're looking for a spot to enjoy time with the family or with friends in Japan, Uminonakamichi Seaside Park will be one of the spot in the list. It is a public park located on a narrow peninsula across the bay from the central Fukuoka Prefecture.
The park covers a total of 540 hectares between the Genkai Sea and Hakata Bay which consists of seven areas; the Flower Area, the Grass Area, the Natural Experience Area, the Amusement Area, the Hakata Bay Area, the Genkai Sea Area and the Resort Area.
Aside from the attraction, the place is also popular for flower viewing with over a millions of flowers planted around the different areas of the park. Flower varieties includes narcissus, tulips, nemophila, roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers and cosmos among others. Cherry blossom viewing is also popular here with a total of 2000 cherry blossom trees planted along the trails.
A short walk from the park stands the Marine World Uminonakamichi, an aquarium that mainly focuses on the aquatic life found in Kyushu. It features huge stadium pool with dolphins and sea lions shows everyday.
From Hakata Station of the JR Kagoshima lime, get off at Kashii Station and transfer to the JR Kashii Line to Uminonakamichi Station. From there, you will see the entrance of the park.
The seaside park opens at 9:30 to 17:30 and until 17:00 only From November to February.Take note that the closing days of a specific area in park may vary by season.
It is closed on December 31, January 1 and First Monday of February.
Admission fee is 410 Yen.
