The Udo Shrine is also known as the shrine of the god of marriage, and is dedicated to Ugayafukiaezu-no-Mikoto, the father of Emperor Jimmu.
The shrine is a popular spot for its unique construction, a bright color painted shrine that is built inside a cave on a coastal cliff. The shrine also faces the sea.

The best way to enjoy the shrine is the terrace that can be found outside the cave. It offers a view overlooking the sea.
A popular activity inside the cave is throwing a small ceramic undama, or lucky ball, available at the shrine. People believe that this brings good luck.
From the Miyazaki Station, ride the bus bound to the Udo Jingo bus stop. From the bus stop, you can reach the shrine by a 10-minute walk.
During April to September, the shrine opens at 6:00 to 19:00. The place is open from 7:00 to 18:00 from October to March the following year. Admission is free.
