With more than 10,000 cherry trees planted in this park, it is considered as one of the Three Best Cherry Viewing Spots in Akita Prefecture along with Hirosaki Castle and Kakunodate.
The 3 hectares park is located by the Kitakami River with not just about cherry blossom trees, it also has a total of 100,000 azaleas.
Of course, the park's busiest season is the cherry blossom bloom. During this season, a crowd of visitors is expected to come to the park strolling and chatting around the park.
Visitors may also view the cherry blossom from Kitakami River by a sighseeing cruise. The cruise usually depart from the southend of the park.
The Kitakami Tenshochi Sakura Festival is also held here annually from April to May. Festival event venue are found at the end of the path.
The park is a 20 minute walk from East of Kitakami Station.
The park is open everyday. No closing days. Admission is free. Sightseeing cruise cost 1000 Yen per person for 20 minutes.
