Susukino is considered as Japan's largest entertainment district that is located just north of Tokyo.
Way back in the 1870s, the area was designated as a red-light district that serves laborers working in the city. In 1960s, prostitution are still developing in the city and in the 1970s, opening of shopping arcade, department store, hotels and other stores that now leads to be the largest entertainment district in Japan.
The place is packed with bars, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, hotels, shops, pachinko parlors and love hotels. There are around 4,000 bars and restaurants in Susukino.
For noodle lovers, Ramen Yokocho is a recommended place for you, it is a narrow lane lined with shops serving Sapporo's famous ramen.
Susukino is also the major venue for the annual Sapporo Snow Festival held every February that has many statues along Eki-mae Dori.
Suskino Station is on both the Namboku Line and Toho Line of the Sapporo subway that is two stops south of Sapporo Station.
