Spa Resort Hawaiians is a one-stop water park, resort, onsen, with a Hawaiian theme. The park opened on January 15, 1966 known as Joban Hawaiian Center, it was the first theme park to be built in Japan and today's highly visited destination in Fukushima Prefecture.
The most popular attraction of the resort are the Hawaiian dance performances by the Hula Girls, local young women who performs every evening on a stage built within the water-park dome. These Hula Girls entertain to draw in tourists when Iwaki, a coal mining town during that time, faced crisis because oil beaome the predominant energy source in Japan.
The resort is divided into five sections; The Water park, Spa garden Paseo, Spring Park, Edo Jowa Yoichi and Vir Port.
The Water Park is the main area of the resort. Visitors can find the indoor pools, water slides and also the dance stage in this part of the resort. Once you step outside, you will find Spa Garden paseo, a water playground with outdoor pools, deckchairs, jacuzzis and a sauna.
Then, the Spring Park is one of the two hot spring areas that draw their spring water from Yumoto Onsen. It also has a lukewarm indoor pools where visitors can enjoy a dip. The other hot spring area is Edo Jowa Yoichi which is said to be the largest single outdoor bath in Japan.
Lastly, the Vir Port is where visitors is allowed to attend a Hawaiian dance lesson, enjoy a massage or facial or experience in a aqua exercise.
Restaurants and other accomodations are also available at the resort, making it a perfect destionation to relax.
Ride the spa's free hourly shuttle bus from the Yumoto Station (Joban Line).
Additional notes: It is located on Warabidaira, Banfujiwaramachi corner Gosaisho Highway (approximately 4 kilometers to the southwest of Yumoto station).
The resort opens 10:00 (9:00 on weekends and holidays) to 22:15. It is closed one to two days a year for maintenance. Spring Park is closed on Tuesdays, Spa Garden Pareo is closed during the winter.
The admission fees depending on the time you spend in the resort; 3240 yen for whole day, 2730 yen for entry until 15:00, 2530 for entry after 18:00. *Above fee includes entry to the Water Park, Spring Park, Spa Garden pareo, Edo Jowa Yoichi and unreserved seats for dance shows.
