The Shukkei-en is a Japanese garden in Hiroshima. It has a very rich history and the prefecture's art museum is located near the place.
Its creation began in 1620, during the Edo period and the ruling of Asano Nagaakira, but the Asano family's initial stay at the garden dates back to the Meiji Period, when it served as their main villa.
By 1940, when several Asano generations had already passed, the current Asanos donated the home to the Hiroshima prefecture.
