The Shiki Memorial Museum located in Matsuyama commemorates the life and the work of Matsuyama-born poet Masaoka Shiki through displaying the manuscripts, letters, books and other related works to Shiki and as well as the history of Matsuyama City.
According to Matsuyama City Guide, the goal od this museum is to help create a new modern culture founded on a deep understanding of Matsuyama's traditions and history through the life and times of Masaika Shiki.
Permanent exhibition features Masaoka Shiki's letters, manuscript, book and other works related to the artist as well as an exhibits about the culture and history of Martsuyama.
According to the museum's official website, the museum almost have 60,000 items related to Shiki that were used for the study of modern Japanese literature, modern Haiku and Tanka.
Lecture Hall where various events are held and a shop selling a various books aboiut Shiki can also be found in the museum.
The museum can be reached after a few steps from Dogo Onsen tram station, the terminal of the 3 tram lines.
The museum opens at 9:00 to 18:00, until 17:00 only from November to April
It is closed during Mondays (Tuesday if Monday falls on a national Holiday) and December 29 to 31.
Admission fee is 400 Yen.
