It's an art museum located in the central Beppu in Oita City. This museum opened in April 2015 with a modern architecture designed by a world famous architect, Shigeru Ban who is known for his innovative design.
The museum exhibits a collection of about 5000 works of Japanese painters, sculpture and crafters, epecially to those artists who have a close association with Oita Prefecture.
A large atrium of shops, ticket counter and a large portion for a new art installation is what visitors can see in the entrance of the museum.
On the ground level also has a cafe space that opens up to the atrium.
Art galleries are located in the third floor that displays a variety of art genres such as painting and sculptures of different artists. Temporary exhibition are also held in the third floor of the museum.
From Beppu, ride a train and get off at the Oita Station. The museum is only a 10-15 minute walk away from the station.
The museum opens at 10:00 to 19:00
