Mount Tokachi is located in Daisetsuzan National Park, the largest National Park in Hokkaido. Mount Tokachi is the tallest volcano of the Tokachi Volcanic Group, with a height of 2,077 meters. It is one of the most famous mountains in Japan. It has four hiking trails to the peak of Tokachidake, which is one of the reasons why hikers and mountaineers visit this place.

Train from Furano to Sapporo Station on the Furano Lavender Express and Asahikawa (1 hour, 10 minutes) on the JR Furano Line. From there either hire a car in Furano or change trains for JR Kamifurano Station and take a bus or taxi.
