Mount Iizuna or Mount Izuna is a 1,917 m mountain located 10 kilometers north-northwest of the heart of Nagano, Nagano Prefecture, Japan.
A legend says that Lake Daizahoshi (Daizahoushi-ike Lake), located at the foot of the mountain, was made from a footprint of Daidara-Bochi, a legendary giant.
Mount Lizuna is a popular destination for hiking that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
Upon the start of the hiking you will see a couple of dragon statues that guards the hike entrance that starts at 1205m.
After 45 minutes on the trail, the view will start to appear. The view of Nagano City and the mountains of Ueda Sugadaira is also starting to appear.
Along with the hiking, you can see little shrines and several peak markers that will also indicate how long you have been hiking.
By bus, from the Kawanakajima Bus Information Office (West Plaza 1F) in front of Nagano Station, take the Kawanakajima Bus in the direction of "Togakushi Skiing Grounds" Bus No. 70, 71.
Most people visit this mountain for hiking but visitors can also do camping, skiing and other outdoor activities.
Visitors may also enjoy the two ski resorts, lakes, golf courses and peaceful retreats around the mountain.
