Regarded as one of the most beautiful valley parks in Japan, you can be guaranteed that the Momijidani Park is full of the irresistible sight of maple leaves.
It is located along Momijidani River, right at the foot of Mt. Misen, which is also just behind the Itsukushima Shrine.
The cultivation of the leaves (and the park) started during the Edo period, when countless seeds of maple were planted all throughout the area. Just a few years after being fully developed, it was named as one of the "8 Most Beautiful Views" in Itsukushima.

It's a 8-12-minute walk to the south east of Itsukushima Shrine (see Mt. Misen)
