Miyako Island

One of Okinawa Prefecture's main islands, it is situated in the Pacific Ocean about 300 kilometers to the southwest of Okinawa Main Island and 100 kilometers of the Yaeyema island. It is known for Japan's best beaches and a great destination for snorketling and diving in the coral reefs.
The island also has an arable land that is used for sugarcane fields. The whole island is combined with rich nature, white beaches, transparent waters and coral reefs. You can also find beautiful beaches and enjoy marine sports anywhere on the island.

Things to see
Beaches are Miyako's famous attraction. Famous beaches includes Maehama Beach, Yoshino Beach and Sunayama Beach. These beaches are perfect for swimming, relaxing and snorkling because of its awesome coral reefs.
Aside from its beautiful beaches, it also offers a small range of other attractions including a place of natural beauty and bridges. Some of these attractions includes Cape Higashi-Hennazaki; a 2 kilometer long with a lighthouse, next is the Tayumya Grave that enshrines Nakasone Tayumya, the leader of Miyako in the 16th century. You can also visit the a botanical garden which is known as the Tropical Botanical Garden and lastly, the Ikema Kurima Bridges, a 1425m long bridge that connect Miyako and Ikema.
Travel Notes
Travel via air from Haneda Airport to Miyako airport. (3 hours travel time) then, from Kansai International Airport to Miyako Airport (3 hours and 30 minutes travel time), and from Naha to Miyako airport (45 minutes travel time).
Admission
Miyako is a small island that is 25 kilometers away from south and 15 kilometers away from east to west that's why the recommended and convenient transportation to get in Miyako island is by renting a car. There are car rental companies that offers an outlet to Miyako Airport.
