Matsue Vogel park is a hidden bird sanctuary, located in the northern banks of Lake Shinji in Shimane. The aviary is home to different species of birds, mostly tropical ones like toucans, turacos, hornbills and ibises. You may also encounter rare and exotic birds there.
Aside from interacting with your winged friends, the park's thousands of flowers, dominated by begonia and fuschia in the greenhouses blooming all-year round, are also admired by visitors. The park is mostly covered by a roof, so everyone can enjoy it in any season.
If you are craving for Japanese food, head to either or both of the restaurants inside the park- Restaurant Flora, where you can slurp Izumo Soba, a famous dish in Izumo Region, and in Fumai-zan, which serves an array of Japanese dishes, ideal for visitors coming in large groups.
By train, depart from Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station (Ichibata Railway), and stop at Matsue Vogel Park Station.
The park have bird shows where different familiar birds get dressed and show tricks!
Admission costs ¥1,540 (30% off for international visitors). The park is open from 9:00-17:00 (entry by 16:15).
