M-Wave is the venue for the speed skating event in Japan during the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano. It also serves as the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the ice sledge event of the Winter Paralympic Games in Nagano. Today, M-WAVE is the world's leading skating arena in winter and as a multifunctional entertainment venue in summer. It is the largest arena in Nagano Prefecture and it already host a variety of events such as sport, music and cultural events.
M-wave is the best place to experience Nagano's olympic past as it is found here the Nagano Olympic Museum. This small museums displays sitems such as the olympic torch and memorable pictures. A souvenir shop selling commemorative merchandise can also be found here.
Take a local bus, Nagano Dentetsu, bound for Suzaka & Yashima, from the No.1 bus stop at the East Exit of the JR Nagano station, get off at the M-WAVE-mae bus stop.
M-Wave opens at 10:00 to 17:00 Closed during weekdays, December 29 to January 3 Admission fee is free. Unfortunately, Nagano Olympic Museum opens only on weekends and national holidays.
