Kokoen Garden is a Japanese style garden opened in 1992 to recall the centennial of Himeji City. It was designed by some of Japan's top landscape artist and architects.
The garden is a 3.5 hectare land contains a group of nine different types of garden.
This garden also offers a scenery of a world cultural heritage and national treasure, Himeji Castle.
The garden contains 9 different types of garden, it including the Garden of Feudal Lords Residence, the Tea Garden, the Summer Tree Garden, the Garden of Artificial Hill and Pond, bamboo garden, flower garden, evergreen garden and Japanese water garden and a pine tree garden.
Visitors can also witness a tea ceremony and a nice view of the Himeji Castle.
It is a 20-minute walk from the Himeji Station, or a 10-minute bus ride along the broad Otemae-dori street, which leads to the garden.
The garden opens at 9:00 to 18:00. Closed on December 29 and 30. Admission fee is 300 Yen for the garden only and 1040 Yen which includes admission to Himeji Castle.
