Manga lover? Longing for a manga activity or any related exhibitions? Visit Kitakyushu Manga Museum.
The Kitakyushu Manga Museum is located in the fith and sixth floor of Aru-Aru City in Kitakyushi City, Fukuoka Prefecture which is mainly devoted to things related to manga and anime.
The museum introduces the history of manga that focuses on the artists who have affiliations to Kitakyushu City. One of the famous artist featured is Matsumoto Leiji, with works such as the Space Battleship Yamato and Galaxy Express 999 series.
A place where you can experience viewing, reading and drawing a manga.
Viewing, as you may see the works made by manga artist. Reading, as there are thousands of manga books in the museum. Drawing, as there are classes available to draw like a pro manga artist.
There is also a "Manga Time Tunnel" which you can find manga written from 1945.
From the north exit of Kokura Station, the museum can be reached by short walk.
The museum opens at 11:00 to 19:00 and until 20:00 during summer.
It is closed on Tuesdays. If Tuesday falls on a national holday, it is closed on Wednesday.
Admission fee is 400 Yen. The cost for the temporary exhibition is not included.
Note that the exhibitions are almost all in Japanese with limited or no English at all.
