Hirosaki in Aomori Prefecture is considered as one of the largest apple producers in Japan and if there is one thing that represents the city, it's probably "apples".
Hirosaki Apple Park in the name itself is a theme park about apples. It is the home of over 1300 apple trees with 65 different varieties. This park also let visitors understand and appreciate the apple culture because of its ambiance and surroundings.
Visitors can take a tour in the whole park and experience apple picking during harvesting season (August - mid November). There is also a production experience garden wherein visitors can help to sort the apples by type and prune the leaves. Just nearby is a apple house that has over 1250 apple products from sweets to crafts. A farm house is also situated along the park where the visitors can have a picnic and play around.
From the Tokiwazaka Entrance Bus Stop, the Hirosaki Apple Park is a 8-12-minute walk.
