You will be amazed by its finest architectural structure once yoo visited this castle, this is why it is considered one of Japan's most beautiful and historic castle. It is located in the central eastern part of Shiga Prefecture and just near Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan.
Hikone Castle is also one of the only four Japanese Castles that are National Treasures along with Himeji, Matsumoto and Inuyama Castle. The castle construction of the castle was ordered by Shogun Ii in 1603 and takes for about 20 years to be completed (1622).

Visitors can reach the castle's main keep by passing by a wooden bridge and they can reach a large store house near the castle's main gate. Once you're in the top of the castle, you will be witnessing a view over the castle grounds and the city.
When finished strolling inside the castle, you can also passed by at the base of the castle hill that stands the Hikone Castle Museum that usually exhibits tha clan's family treasure that includes armor, kimono, musical instruments and some documents.
Lastly, after a several walks you can be relaxed in the castle grounds which is also a spot for cherry blossom during spring. If its not spring yet, consider viewinh the nearby Genkyuen Garden at the base of the castle.
The castle can be reached by a 15 minute walk from the Hikone Staion.
The Hikone Castle opens at 8:30 to 17:30 and the museum is up to 17:00 only The castle has no closing days while the museum is closed on December 25 to 31 Admission fee for the castle is 600 Yen and 500 yen for the museum. If toy want to avail both, it will only cost you 1000 Yen.
