It's Fukushima's top cherry blossom spot located on the slopes of the hills. This park is actually a privately-owned field for growing several trees and flowers until it turned into a park and was opened to the public in 1959 and since then, there are thousand of visitors a year because of its beautiful cherry blossoms.
With the combination of picturesque view of Azuma Mountains nearby the park and cherry trees, visitors can enjoy the scenery of the place. Aside from the cherry trees, there are also a variety of flowering trees that are planted throughout the park.
The park can be accessed from the visitor center located in the entrance. It is approximately a one hour walk in the walking trails to reach the foot of the hill.
There are several viewpoint of the park that give visitors a nice panoramic view along the park.
A 30 and 60 minute walking trail is also available that takes to the summit and let the visitors witness the amazing view from there.
Every cherry blossom season, there will be a shuttle bus from Fukushima Station and Hanamiyama Park. Alternatively, you can tail bus #6 from Fukushima Station until it reaches the park.
The park is open all day but maintain to visit the park during early morning because it is a private premises. No closing days. Admission is free. Limited parking areas. Visitors are recommended to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes as it requires a long walking routes. The peak of the flowering season at Hanamiyama usually takes place from mid to late April and this is the recommended time to visit the park.
