Hakone Shrine is a Japanese Shinto shrine that is originally known as Motosumiya. It stands at the foot of Mount Hakone along the shores of Lake Ashi.
The shrine is hidden in the forest but it is recognized by its huge and famous torii gates that stand in the lake and the other two over the main street of Moto-Hakone.
The path from the torii gated towards the shrine is a series of lanterns along the peacefully standing cedar trees.
Hakone Shrine is a popular day trip for the people of Tokyo because of its natural setting, national parks, lakes, museums, hot springs, hiking, view of Mt. Fuji and the shrine itself.
