Located in northern part of Daisetsuzan National Park, Asahi-dake is the highest mountain in Hokkaido, which is part of Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group of the Ishikari Mountains.
It is said to be the first place where autumn foliage occurs, and the last one to melt the yearly snows in the entire Japan. In July, where summer is almost felt in the entire Japan, there are still snowfalls to be seen in Asahi-dake.
The alpine is beautiful all throughout the changing seasons.
If you are aiming to fully unwind with the aid of beautiful sights from nature, Asahi-dake is a place to go.
Here, you can also taste the local food and view the mountains from bird's perspective via ropeway.
There is also a small resort of Asahidake onsen, where you can enjoy the enchanting alpine views while relaxing in hotsprings.
Asahikawa Airport is nearer to Asahidake than in New Chitose Airport. There is a direct bus called Ideyu-go bus coming from Asahikawa Airport to Asahidake Onsen.
