When it launched in 1971, the Asa Zoological Park became the 62nd zoo to open in Japan.
The spacious grounds of Asa is home to over 160+ animals, among them are lions, pandas, tigers, and giraffes. Currently, the zoo is approximately 50 hectares, but there were reports of extending the area and its facilities.
With their location being on the side of the mountain, the Asa Zoo will be extra interesting for hikers.
One may say that it is a bit far out but it is definitely worth it, Asa Zoo won't be one of the most popular zoos in Japan for nothing.
Upon arriving, you will be welcomed to the scenic green nature of the place, the trails to explore, and the varied animals in the forest.
From the Hiroshima JR Station, the bus ride is about an hour
Opened from 9:00am to 4:30pm.
