Asamushi Aquarium was open to the public since 1923. It is located in Aomori Prefecture and considered as the largest aquarium in the whole Tohoku Region.
The aquarium is the home of over 10,000 marine organisms and over 400 species of rare aquatic animals from Aomori and around the world.
The large saltwater is what most people are longing to see when visiting this aquarium. It is a 15 meter long viewing tunnel. Passing through the tunnel gives a feeling of walking under the ocean of about 10,000 marine organism.
Throughout the year, this aquarium also offers star dolphin dynamic performances in an 188,000 gallon indoor pool. Visitors can watch the dolphins fly and play around.
From Aomori Station, ride the Aomori Railway Line then exit at Asamushi Onsen Station. From there, the aquarium is just a 10-15-minute walk.
The aquarium is open from 9:00 until 17:00 and entry until 16:30 No closing days Admission fee is 1020 Yen, Elementary Student fee is 500 Yen and free admission for children.
