#5: Food Wars! The Third Plate
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma is based on the manga written by Tsukada Yuuto and illustrated by Saeki Shun, in collaboration with the popular chef Morisaki Yuki. It was about Yukihira Soma, the son of a restaurant owner studying in an elite chef school, with the goal of inheriting the family business. He then met talented chefs and challenges them into cook-offs. Soma and the so-called Elite Ten then decided to battle at the Totsuki school, during the Moon Festival. As a neophyte, what will Soma do at this monster event that brings in 500,000 participants every festival year?
#4 Owarimonogatari Season 2
The only disadvantage of Owarimonogatari is the fact that the second season only has seven episodes. Before we even explore what made the second season so special, you can’t help but give another round of applause to the anime for doing what so few anime have managed to do — create an original concept that is entertaining and enjoyably complex.
#3 Attack on Titan Season 2
The first season of Attack on Titan was a blast and make sure you have watched this before doing a marathon of season two!
Attack on Titan comes back with more astounding visuals, that same hair-raising soundtrack, and a narrative that will keep you asking for more.
#2 Made in Abyss
Do you want an adventure with a bit of fantasy and science fiction?
Made in Abyss is another contender for one of the best animes of 2017. There are so many areas where this series truly shined: from its exemplary world-creation to its impressive collection of characters that turns out to be one of the most well-thought of animes we’ve seen in a very long time. Made in Abyss follows the journey of a young orphan named Riko, who has dreams of following her mother’s footsteps as a great Cave Raider.
#1 My Hero Academia Season 2
My Hero Academia aired its second season this year and is on number one of our list!
It is quickly becoming one of the popular animes, not only in Japan, but around the world. My Hero Academia isn’t an incredible original anime in terms of concept. However, what made it into the top of our list was the way it deals with the journey of a young boy who desperately wants to live up to the standards being set by the realm around him. The first season set the bar higher than expected and you couldn’t help but fear that the second season would simply drag the plot too long, or just ruin the wonderful story that had already unfolded. However, it seemed like Season 2 had proven us all wrong.
You still have some days to watch your favorite anime before 2018 comes. Take your pick and end 2017 with your awesome 2D heroes.
