Take your adventure to greater heights by riding a ferris wheel and get to see Japan a hundred feet off the ground! Japan is known to have great architectures and structures that allow visitors to see the surroundings from another point of view. Besides tall observation towers, there are also a couple of choices of ferris wheels to choose from.
1. Diamond and Flower Ferris Wheel
Location: 6 Chome-6-2 Rinkaichō, Edogawa-ku, Tōkyō-to
Admission: 700¥
Records state that this is the tallest ferris wheel in Japan. Standing 384 feet high, you can even see Mt. Fuji during clear days and even the nearby Tokyo Disneyland. Upon riding, you can also get a nice view of Tokyo Bay.
2. Daikanransha
Location: Palette town, Odaiba, Tokyo, Japan
Admission: 900 ¥
This 115 meter tall ferris wheel stands in Odaiba, an artificial island in Tokyo Bay. When it opened in 1999, it was declared the tallest ferris wheel in the world. Get to see the Tokyo Tower and the Rainbow Bridge when you reach its top.
3. Tempozan
Location: 552-0021 Ōsaka-fu, Ōsaka-shi, Minato-ku, Kaigandōri, 1 Chome−1
Admission: 700 ¥
Get to see Osaka 330 feet from the ground! It’s recommended to ride the Tempozan at night to see the beautiful lights of the city as well as the nearby Kansai International Airport. The ferris wheel is located in front of the Osaka Aquarium. With its towering height, you surely wouldn’t miss it!
4. Cosmo Clock 21
Location: 231-0001 Kanagawa-ken, Yokohama-shi, Naka-ku, Shinkō
Admission: 1000 ¥
Cosmo Clock 21 has an enormous digital clock embedded at the center of the ferris wheel. At 112.5 meters tall, you can see the skyscrapers of Shinjuku when you ride. It is also part of the Cosmo World Bayside Amusement Park where you can enjoy other rides.
5. HEP Five
Location: 5-15 Kakudacho, Kita Ward, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture 530-0017
Admission: 500 ¥
After shopping at the Hankyu Entertainment Park, board the HEP Five to enjoy the view of Osaka castle and Port of Osaka! It’s entrance is located at the 7th floor of the Hankyu Building - a great way to end the day!
6. Yomiuri Land Ferris Wheel
Location: 206-8725 Tokyo, Inagi, Yanokuchi, 4015−1
Admission: 1800 yen for the entire Yomiuri Land
Check out this ferris wheel at Yomiuri Land. The best season to ride it is during the fall,when the Yomiuri park is filled with different autumn colors and during the spring, when cherry blossoms paint the park pink.
7. Big-O
Location: 1 Chome-3-61 Koraku, Bunkyō-ku, Tōkyō-to
Admission: 800 yen
What makes Big-O unique is that its center is hollow. The Thunder Dolphin Roller Coaster actually passes through the hollow center of the ferris wheel. It’s only 60 meters tall but it gives you a great view of Central Tokyo and Tokyo Dome.
