Last September 8, 2016, Starbucks Japan celebrated their 20th anniversary. Among the 1,100 branches of Starbucks across the world, Starbucks Japan ranked no. 4 as the largest market. But what makes Sutaba Japan (Sutaba is how they call Starbucks in Japan.) different from others is that they offer unique, seasonal, and limited kawaii and oishii Starbucks products.
1. The Chocolate Brownie Matcha Frappuccino
Who will not love brownies and matcha? After two years of waiting, on April of this year, Starbucks Japan introduced one of their matcha best-sellers once again. The green tea frappe has been a regular drink on the menu of Starbucks Japan but to add more twist to it, they offered the Chocolate Brownie Matcha for a limited time. The frappe consists of matcha green tea topped with whipped cream and a chocolate-flavored brownie.
The matcha favorite was available from April 16 to May 31 for 550 yen.
2. Sakura Blossom and Strawberry Latte/Frappuccino
Every spring in Japan, Starbucks offers flavored drinks that are inspired by the lovely sakura. The Sakura flavored beverage has usually been present on the menu from February to March. To make the patrons more excited each year, Starbucks changes the flavors. Last year, they offered the Caramelly Sakura Chocolate Frappuccino Latte that has white chocolate and caramel syrup. This year, they added the Sakura Blossom and Strawberry Latte Frappuccino on the menu. It has a strawberry shaved chocolate and strawberry syrup on top.
3. Nectarine Peach Cream Frappuccinno with Tea Bavarois
This limited edition frappe was released last October 3 and only available until the end of October. The beverage let you taste the sweetness of nectarines and peaches, combined with a firm cream dessert, rich tea bavarois, and topped with whipped cream, glossy strawberry and nectarine syrups.
4. Cantaloupe Melon and Cream Frappuccino
If you are fond of melon, then you’d surely love this limited edition Cantaloupe Melon and Cream Frappuccino offered last April 2016. This beverage had melon syrup, bits of freshly-cut cantaloupe and milk-flavored panna cotta cream. Panna cotta is a kind of pudding, made from dairy products that are thickened with gelatin. The drink comes with the Starbucks signature whipped cream.
5. Baked Cheesecake Frappuccino
Say cheese with the Baked Cheesecake Frappuccino. Topped with a swirl of a baked cheesecake whipped cream, this frappe featured a crust-styled graham biscuit, which was best enjoyed with a spoon than a straw. The color of the frappe was white, contrary to the pale yellow color of the baked cheesecake whipped cream on top. The beverage was released on June 1 and was available until July 1.
6. Baked Apple Frappuccino
For this year’s Christmas season, Starbucks Japan released a new delightful treat to their customers. The whipped cream is topped with a baked apple flavored syrup. It also has melted butter and brown sugar, sprinkled with crème brulee powder. The beverage also features bits of caramel-flavored apple. The taste of the mixed toppings and beverage gives a balanced of sweet and sour of the fruit and cream.
The Baked Apple Frappucinno is available until Christmas, December 25, 2016 for 540 yen.
7. Matcha White Chocolate Frappuccino
After we fell in love with Chocolate Brownie Matcha, Starbucks Japan has now released the Matcha White Chocolate Frappucinno/Latte, available starting December 12, 2016. It is made from the best quality matcha, blended with white chocolate milk. You’ll surely enjoy the bittersweet taste of matcha and the white chocolate.
There’s also the hot Matcha White Chocolate that has a soft and creamy milk and bitter matcha. You can also request it to be an iced drink.
You can buy the Matcha White Chocolate Frappuccino for 540 yen and the hot Matcha White Chocolate for 420-540 yen.
Aside from these amazing sweet treats, Starbucks Japan has just announced their lucky bag for 2017. Every year, they release lucky bags containing Starbucks items inside. Next year, the bags cost around JPY 5,556. So, you’d better line up early for you to be able to get your lucky bag!
Starbucks Japan really offers mouth-watering and delectably satisfying beverages. Just watch out for their new line-up for 2017!
