Through the years, this iconic and massive fire-breathing beast continuously trots out its unparalleled power to big screens since 1954.
Godzilla or "Gojira" as how the Japanese call this prodiguous creature (combining gorilla and "kujira" or whale), is a mutant monster spawned from nuclear testing, and emerged on the Pacific, thus attacked Japan. It was the first Japanese monster-themed movie produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka of Toho Studios, insipred by the second release of another big hit on 1950s, King Kong.
After 60 years, the world still loves the movie, and creates impact on the surging issues on nuclear hysteria. Let's backtrack and pay tribute to this train-chomping behemoth from 1950s down to 2016.

The granddaddy of all monsters' first premiere was a hit. It looked like a dinosaur then, and still maintained the ugly look until today. The monster showed-off its power by wrecking power stations and buildings, and chomping aircrafts and trains.

Two years of success had brought Godzilla to Hollywood. On this year, the Americans adaptation was released.
Godzilla vs. King Kong (1962)

After a hiatus, Godzilla finally made its comeback with King Kong. both are using their physical strength in attempt to destroy each other.
Godzilla vs. Mothra (1964)

The director Ishiro Honda kept on using the versus formula in making the success of the movie. This time, Godzilla uses its destructive breath to destroy a huge moth named Mothra.
Invasion of Astro Monster (1965)

Because the audiences loved the beast battles, on the same year, Honda filmed the Invasion of Astro Monster-- which was the three-headed dragon-like creature named Ghidorah. Another sequels that used beast battle concept are Godzilla vs. Hedorah in 1971, Godzilla vs. Gigan in 1972, and Godzilla vs. Megalon in 1973.

Another Godzilla film had gone wild in the big screen. This is the first time that Godzilla confronts a bionic creature under the name Mechagodzilla. It was the last among the original Godzilla series.
The Return of Godzilla (1984)

After 10 years, Godzilla came back to life to invade. He is more savage and attacked people in this episode, instead of beasts. It was then released in U.S. as Godzilla 1985.

Godzilla 1998

In 1998, the full-American adaptation of Godzilla had its remake, completely produced in a Hollywood studio. It looked like more of a Tyrannosaurus-Rex. Before that, six films were released with the famed beast fighting King Ghidorah, SpaceGodzilla and Destoryah.
