Japan is a strict country, needless to say, but you may bump with some regulations that will make you ask: What for? Be sure to remember these if you plan to visit Japan.
1. Never bring Vicks inhalers in Japan Vicks and other allergy or sinus medications that contain the ingredient "pseudoephedrine" are prohibited and shouldn't be brought to Japan. This is due to the strict implementation of anti-stimulant drug laws.
2. The six months rule for divorced women Only women (this law is not applicable for men) are not allowed to marry again after six months after a divorce. Moreover, if the child is born during this six month span, that child is legally your ex-husband's.
3. Report any signs of alien life forms If this 0.001% chance you encounter or discover an extraterrestrial creature in the outer space, you are required to report it to the scientific community and to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. Unsurprisingly, 103 countries approved this treaty.
4. Money is literally valued Throwing money or damaging it (in coin or bill) will punish you ¥200,000 or a year in prison. You can't make a jewelry or coin pendant out of it.
5. Brewing alcohol at home is prohibited You can easily brew your own alcohol at home now, just watch Youtube, buy the ingredients and Voila! A home-brewed spirit comes to you. But sadly, it is not allowed in Japan.
6. You can smoke in bars and restos but never outside The streets in Japan are just immaculate that you will be ashamed of throwing anything or just smoke in public areas.Just don't light it up especially in cities of Tokyo and Osaka.
