Japan is known for being the top country that produces electronics. They are also known for their bizarre inventions that solve even the most humane problem. But did you know some of the world’s greatest invention actually came from Japan? Here are some of them:
1. Digital Camera
Japan changed the way of taking pictures by inventing the very first digital camera. Sony was the first one to release a camera that will capture each moment and can be viewed anytime even without printing it.
2. CDs/DVDs/Blu-Ray Disks
Before flash drives, CDs and DVDs were the most popular way of storing media. Sony, along with Phillips, were the first ones to produce the very first CD in the world. The DVD was a collaboration between Sony, Toshiba, and Panasonic. Blu-ray disks, now being able to store larger files, was made from Shuji Nakamura’s invention of blu-ray diodes. Japan was also the one who released the VHS, Betamax, and even Flash Memory
3. Walkman
In the late 1970s, Sony produced the very first portable music player. Before the iPod, Sony’s Walkman was a huge hit. You only have to bring cassette tapes with you in order to play your favorite song. The Discman, able to play media on discs, was also produced by Sony.
4. Karaoke
The world will be dull without music and friends to sing with. Thanks to Japan’s invention of the worldwide phenomena, karaoke, we are now able to spend time with our loved ones while singing our hearts out.
5. Calculator
It would be hard time to compute all those mathematical equations using an abacus or a computer-big calculator. Sanyo, Sharp, and Canon were the first ones to create the pocket calculators that we now use.
6. Electric Rice Cooker
With the Japanese people’s love for rice, there’s no doubt that they would think of a way to cook their rice faster. Mitsubishi Electric Company released the very first electric rice cooker in the 1940s.
7. Instant Noodles
Whenever we would want something hot during the freezing weather but we’re too lazy to go out, instant noodles is the solution. Momofuko Ando produced the very first instant noodle in 1958.
8. Digital Pets
Or commonly known as Tamagotchi, are proudly Japan made. During the late 90s to the early 2000s, this toy was a hit not only to kids but also to kids-at-heart.
9. Game consoles
Playstation, Gameboy, arcade games, name it, it probably came from Japan. Most of the famous games that we play today are even products of the creative Japanese minds.
