Several writers wrote quotes about the spring. Robin Williams told “Spring is nature’s way of saying, 'let’s Party!’”. Jen Selinsky quoted “The promise of spring’s arrival is enough to get anyone through the bitter winter”. In Japan, the season symbolizes hope amidst the barren landscape of winter. As the tiny bud of life springs from the barren soil, the pinkish blooms signals comfort and hope.
The Japanese philosophy - Mono no Aware or empathy towards things reminds that ephemeral objects should be appreciated. It’s no wonder that the Japanese make parties under cherry, plums, peaches and nectarine trees.

Green tea plantations at Mt.Fuji

Matcha or green tea is one of the Japanese traditional symbols. If you like green tea, you can visit plantations near the iconic mountain. Such plantations include the Imamiya and Obuchi Sasaba where you can take photos of the vast tea greens and the snow-capped Mt. Fuji in the background. The lands are privately owned and so it’s better to ask for permission from locals before entering the place.

Sakura themed-foods

During Hanami or Cherry blossom viewing, restaurants, cafes and picnics make cherry blossom flavoured food and drinks. The cherry fruit is a small and fleshy drupe or stone fruit with an average size of 1 inch or 2 cm in diameter. The taste is tart, bitter and almond-like. Careful, though, that the fruit’s pit (the seed’s outer layer) contains the toxic cyanide.
