1. Tokyo
Upon earning the title as the largest metropolitan in the world with 35 million people escaping in the hustle and bustle of the busy city every day, it’s certain that it can get pretty overwhelming the first time you land your feet in Tokyo. But despite the beautiful chaos, Japan’s capital city is actually the most popular destination in the country. Tokyo has a lot to offer from international fine-dining cuisines to the quirkiest electronic stores which sell the latest gadgets and appliances. It’s a perfect place where getting lost is kind of... a good thing.
2. Kyoto
Expose yourself about the traditional culture of Japan by paying a visit to sophisticated shrines and temples of Kyoto, ancient teahouses and staying in ryokans (Japanese traditional inn). Unlike in the rowdy atmosphere of Tokyo, a Zen city is a place where you can acquire peace and serenity in the middle of appreciating nature. Geisha roaming around the place is actually a typical scenario here, too.
3. Osaka
Being the second largest city in Japan, Osaka is said to be the major destination for business travellers and is the home of many international companies. However, it is not just a place for business only. With the wide range selection of food, Osaka is a quintessential spot to have a delightful food trip. But not only that, one of the four Universal Studios theme park throughout the world is located in Osaka where thousands of visitors are so eager to see the School of Hogwarts and channel their inner geek.
4. Hiroshima
Look back into the history of Hiroshima where the atomic bombing in 1945 took place when you visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park which contains the remnants of buildings knocked down by the bomb and monuments of the deceased people who were killed by the nuclear attack. The city also has another World Heritage Site namely Itsukushima Shrine of Miyajima Island.
5. Nara
Nara was the first recognized capital of Japan before Kyoto and Tokyo. You can spot in the Nara Park the oldest and largest temples which were included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Visitors usually stopped by in Todaiji Temple to catch a glimpse of the magnificent structure of the temple and also to have close contact with over 1,200 sika deers which are freely roaming around the place. Oh, deer…
6. Okinawa
Visit the island paradise known as the Hawaii of Japan -- the city of Okinawa. Located in the southern part of Japan, Okinawa with its tropical climate and beautiful beaches is an excellent choice for lounging. If you fancy seeing thousands of sea creatures right before your eyes, you can visit the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and witness the captivating beauty of the sea animals.
Exploring Japan is indeed a great privilege. If you’re still on the planning and itinerary making a stage, consider these places and your trip will never be boring in any other way.
