In 1982, Tamiya released the first ever mini four wheel drive (4WD) racer for hobbyist around the world. The product gained worldwide success through media like animated Manga series such as Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! and Dash! Yonkurō. Its success in the 90s and 2000s paved way for hobbyists around Japan and the neighboring Asian countries like Philippines and Singapore in terms of sales and races.
