By the end of the second world war, there had been a scarcity in gasoline in Japan. Automobile companies then thought of ways on how to continue transporting people within the country without the use of oil. Fortunately, the electric power plants in the mountains, mainly running from geothermal power and hydroelectric power, survived the war and could still produce electricity.
As a result, a lot of electric vehicles emerged to solve this shortage. In the year 1947 when "Tama" was introduced by Nissan, the car easily earned a high reputation for the Japanese car company.
In fact, the Tama Electric Car was included in the Mechanical Engineering Heritage in 2010 having made significant contributions to the development of mechanical engineering in Japan.
